The St Leger was held in Doncaster on Saturday September 12th and was enjoyed by
record-breaking numbers of spectators who enjoyed the warm, and initially sunny,
weather. They made the most of the occasion and dressed up for the good natured
festival of horse racing, entertainment and also some dancing to the bands. In
spite of the heavy rain showers that fell during the last 2 races, spirits were
not dampened, if anything the race-goers put on a brave face. The photos show
the smiles that erupted from under umbrellas and an array of protective head
gear. Copies of the Racing Post proved useful for this latter function. The
